On September 20th, 2021, Carson City lost a true matriarch. Ann E. Petersen passed away at the age of 88 years old.
Ann was born on March 12th, 1933, to Vincent and Speranza Azzopardi in San Francisco, California. On August 1st, 1953, she married Herbert D. Petersen and had two sons Greg and Chris.
In 1978, she and her husband entered into a partnership with Howard and Mercy Pyle to purchase the Penguin Drive-In in Carson City, NV. They successfully operated this business until it closed in 1997.
Ann was predeceased by her husband of 61 years.
She is survived by her sons Greg (Tina) and Chris (Cindy); grandchildren Eric, Josh, Danny, Skylar, Rory, Jeff, and Austin; and 4 great grandchildren. The family would like to thank Carson Tahoe Hospital and their staff for the kindness, wonderful care, and friendship that they provided during Ann’s time with them.
At her request, no service will be held. However, the next time you enjoy a Penguin Taco or a Penguin Burger at the Pourhouse in Carson City, raise your glass and give a little toast to Ann and Mercy.
