Helen “Kitty” Margaret Maguire Dakin, 78, the widower of Kenneth Dakin, departed this life, Tuesday, July 19, 2022, at her daughters residence in South Carolina surrounded by her family and a beloved caregiver.
Mrs. Dakin was born the daughter of James Maguire and Georgia Cataldo on January 18, 1944, in Gardner, MA. She was a proud graduate of Allan Hancock Community College in Lompoc, CA where she received her Associate Degree in Nursing. She spent many years serving as a nurse, later dedicating her skills to caring for the elderly.
Her greatest enjoyment was her family, including her three children, her many “surrogate kids” as well as her many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. “Miss Kitty” to her friends and family loved dancing, especially country western dancing and was an avid bowler. Kitty and Ken were proud to make their home in Gardnerville NV and spent many years in their cherished home in the Ranchos.
Kitty was of the Catholic faith and was proud to raise her children in the Catholic church. She was a devoted wife, loving mother, and a cherished grandmother and great-grandmother.
She is survived by three children, Robert Ayres (Guifen), Donna Cupp (James), and Angel Moore (Tracy); fifteen grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
She was predeceased by her parents; and her husband, Kenneth Dakin and stepson James Dakin.
Kitty was a very patriotic individual who contributed to many charities supporting veterans and animals.
In lieu of flowers the family request a donation be made in her name to your local animal shelter or veteran charity.
A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date
