Anthony Joseph (Tony) Aiello, 95, passed away Jan.26, 2022 at his home in Gardnerville, NV. He was born April 9, 1926, to Peter and Kathryn Aiello in Martinez, CA.
He served in the Navy during World War II as a pilot, flying off the USS WASP. He lived in South Lake Tahoe, CA for 53 years, where he was a building contractor for 40 years, licensed in both CA and NV. He was a member of the Elks Club and was very active in the South Lake Tahoe Motel Association, serving as its president for 2 years. During his tenure, he organized trips to Europe and Japan for the Association.
Always an avid golfer, he played in numerous tournaments in Death Valley, CA. After retirement, he and Sharon travelled through the United States and parts of Canada. Spending the winter in Yuma, AZ for 18 years, allowed him to play golf year-round.
He leaves behind Sharon, his wife of 64 years, children Stephanie Valenti (Nicholas), Carson City, NV, Jeffrey Aiello, Gloucester, VA, and Michele Rogers (Ronald), Gloucester, VA. Also 14 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren, and 4 great-great- grandchildren.
Visitation will be Feb. 8, 2022, 5:30-8:30pm, at Eastside Memorial, 1600 Buckeye Rd, Minden, NV. Funeral services will be Feb. 9, 2022, 12 noon, at Carson Valley United Methodist Church, 1375 Centerville Ln, Gardnerville, NV. Followed by a reception at the Carson Valley Inn, in the Topaz Room. Interment will be Feb. 10, 2022, 12 noon, at Happy Homestead Cemetery, 1261 Johnson Ln, South Lake Tahoe, CA.
