Angela Domingo Longré, 86 of Minden, passed away during the early morning hours of June 8, 2022. She died peacefully at home with her husband at her side.
She was born to the late Salvatore Domingo and Giuseppa Domingo (née Zichichi), September 14, 1935, in the Provincia de Trapani in Sicily (Italy). After a childhood spent in Tunisia, she immigrated to Berkeley, California at the age of 17.
Angela married Ray Longré (of Berkeley, California) in 1960 and they started their family in the Bay Area before relocating to the Carson Valley in 1972. She is preceded in death by her parents and brothers (Jean Claude and Bartolo Domingo). Angela is survived by her husband of 62 years, three children: Raymond Longré (Caroline), of Minden; Lori Annett (Allen), of Gardnerville; and Joanne Longré (David), of Berkeley, California; and three grandchildren – Joseph Longré, Madeline Annett and
Daniel Longré.
Angela worked for many years at the local branches of Nevada Banking Company and then El Dorado Savings Bank. She made many friendships during that time of her life, and she treasured those memories and friendships.
Angela was a long-time member of St. Gall’s Catholic Church and taught religious education for many years. She was an avid fan of the San Francisco Giants and would faithfully watch each game whether the team was in first or last place. An accomplished cook, Angela loved cooking for her family. She passed on her appreciation of cooking and the Italian culture to her children and grandchildren. The thought of people going hungry was intolerable to her, so she gave generously to the Carson Valley Food Closet and St. Vincent de Paul Dining Room.
There will be a celebration of life at St. Gall’s Catholic Church on Monday, June 13th at 10am. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Carson Valley Food Closet or the American Heart Association.
