Sandra Louise Girdner beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend, passed peacefully into the arms of her Lord and Savior on Monday, May 16th at her home.
Sandy was born November 11, 1953 to Loniel and Marilyn Harris in Turlock, CA. She was the eldest of 4 children and had 3 brothers (Doyle, Douglas and Paul). Her youngest brother,
Paul passed away when she was only 12.
At the young age of 18, on February 5, 1972, she married the man of her dreams, Kenneth Girdner. They celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary in February. Together they had 4 children (Joseph, Nathan, Sarah, Jessica); which is just what she wanted and she always said that God blessed her with two boys and two girls. Her family was her most important focus in life, second only to serving her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
Sandy was never afraid to share about her faith in the Lord with others. She wanted everyone to know the mighty, saving grace of Jesus. She found great comfort and joy in reading the Bible and was quick to share about the overwhelming forgiveness and hope that is available through faith in Jesus Christ.
Her greatest joy and biggest accomplishment was being a mom and grandmother to her 11 grandchildren. Her favorite way to spend time was with her family. She LOVED big family get togethers, camping, gardening, crafting, cooking, walking, reading and any other activity that involved her kids and grandkids.
Outside of the home, Sandy also had a successful career of 25 years at Bently Nevada. She was hard working and loved people. She started in assembly at Bently and worked her way into a Supervisor Position and eventually Human Resources. Everyone that knew Sandy,
knew that she loved to “interview” people. She loved asking questions and finding out more
about their lives. She really loved to know and connect with others in a meaningful way.
When she and Ken retired in 2018, they embarked on longer camping, hunting, fishing and sightseeing adventures together. They loved exploring and enjoying God’s creation and historical places together with their sweet and loyal dog, Rusty.
We rejoice because we know that mom is pain free, wholly healed and in the presence of Jesus. We know that we will be reunited with her in eternity and until then, will miss her greatly here on earth.
She will be missed by her loving and dedicated husband Ken; her children and their spouses: Joe (Brandi) Girdner, Nate (Jennifer) Girdner, Sarah (Todd) Freeman, Jessica (Josh) Burke; her grandchildren: Abigail, Ella, Grant, Kiley, Rachel, Nolan, Claire, Eleanor, Alyson, Kaitlyn,
Jackson; her brothers: Doyle (Kim) and Douglas (Cynthia) and so many more.
She was preceded in death by her father (Loniel), mother (Marilyn) and her brother (Paul).
Services will be held on Saturday, June 4th at 2:00pm at Shadow Mountain Church,
1311 Centerville Lane, Gardnerville, NV.
Arrangements were in the trusted care of Autumn Funerals & Cremations.
