Born in Delta Utah on September 16, 1939 to John R and Helen Mae (Tolbert) Hesselgesser. Passed away at home suddenly and unexpectedly on January 23,2023 at the age of 83.
Graduated from White Pine Country High School in spring of 1958. Don joined the Operating Engineers Local #3. He worked on many of the highways in Northern Nevada.
He married Elaine Hibel on December 16, 1959, and together they raised three sons. During this time Don worked as a truck driver/salesman for Mooremans Livestock Feed and Northrup King Seeds.
In later years he began breeding, raising and training mules. He leveled fields, harvested hay, and traveled the 40 Mile Desert Wagon Trail Crossing twice. He participated in Parades and 4H events with his mules that he deeply loved.
Don is survived by his wife of 63 years Elaine Hesselgesser. His three sons John Hesselgesser and wife Rhonda of Silver Springs NV, and Robert Hesselgesser of Carlin NV, and Don William Hesselgesser of Fallon Nv. His 12 grandchildren, 7 Great Grandchildren. Don is also survived by his two brothers John Dee Hesselgesser and wife Yolanda of Sparks NV, Harry Sherman Hesslgesser of Portland OR, and sister Darlene Wyllie of Elko Nv. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews and the many that adopted him as their Grandpa Don.
Services will be held at The Gardens Funeral Home in Fallon, NV at 11am on February 4, 2023. A Celebration of Life will be held directly after the services at the Fallon Museum.
