Ted William Griffin
January 20, 1940 - July 1, 2024
Ted was born in Eagle Rock, California on January 20, 1940. He attended Alhambra High School and then went on to attend East Los Angeles Jr. College.
Ted's employment career began in the 1960s as a Materials Coordinator/Project Scheduler at C F Braun & Co. in Alhambra, CA. The firm's business was to design oil refineries and petrochemical plants around the world. The core value and work ethic at Braun would shape his future business career. Braun was also a good place to meet your life partner, as was the case with Ted and I (Diane). We fell in love and married on July 23, 1965. We lived in California for 14 years, and while there Ted proudly served in the U. S. Army National Guard.
In 1979 Ted and I moved to Gardnerville, NV, and purchase 5 acres of land. Ted took a year off work to build a beautiful home for us in the Carson Valley. Upon its completion h applied and was hired by Sierra Pacific Power (NV Energy) in Reno as its Fleet Operations Manager. He worked there for approximately 15 years before retiring in 1995.
Ted's love of fly fishing led us to the Madison River in beautiful Montana, where we enjoyed 48 years of vacationing at Campfire Lodge which included lots of rafting, fish fries, campfires, and even a martini or 2. The highlight of those great times was meeting forever friends who became like family to us and gave us such wonderful memories.
Restoring old cars such as a 1956 F100 Ford truck, a 1940 Ford Coupe, and a 1968 GT California Special Mustang was Ted's passion. His home was his castle, and he cherished it. He also loved dogs and enjoyed many canine companions during his lifetime.
The Nevada families and friends who made us their own have been and are a blessing beyond words. We have four godchildren Stacey and Cari from Gardnerville and Amy and Chad (now residing in Alaska). Cari's beautiful children Addie, Ayden and Liam have brought much joy into our lives.
Ted so valued all his friendships along life's path, many since childhood. He was, indeed, our favorite storyteller. He loved to relive stories about his hot rod buddies, traveling escapades, the Grizzly that got too close at the Madison, etc. He was also a World War II buff and always enjoyed talking about it as well.
Ted was a strong man with a caring heart who never wavered from his convictions or beliefs.
My world is not the same now, but our love is still ever present. Our favorite river will be our final resting place. Until then, you are always in my heart and will forever be my hero!
