On November 25, 2024, Pete Rasner passed away at the age of 90. Pete was born on September 22, 1934 to Lee and Eula Rasner. He was born in Livermore, California while his parents were visiting family.
Pete’s early years were spent growing up in Hawthorne, Nevada where he excelled in sports. He loved to fish and hunt the local waterways and mountains with his friends. Pete married Christine Yeary in 1953. They later divorced. As a father with a growing family, he began a milk distribution business, supplying the Carson City area with dairy products from James Canyon Ranch. As a General Building Contractor Pete built over 80 custom homes, apartments and office building in Northern Nevada. He was actively building until his late 70‘s.
Pete joined the Carson City Sheriff’s Office in the late 60’ after serving as a reserve deputy. He was promoted to Sergeant; He was later elected Sheriff and served in that capacity from 1975 to 1978. He was very proud of the trust the public awarded to him and always spoke favorably of the hard working law enforcement Officers in Carson City. Pete met Judy Hendrix in 1986 and they traveled the west and Canada. They remained happily together until his passing.
Pete is survived by his life partner Judy, his children Darrell (Jill), Scott (Lee Ann), Danny, Terrie, and Ashton; grandchildren Darrell Jr., Rachael, Nathan, Jake, Jesse and Sarah, along with 11 great grandchildren and his sister Sharon Peterson. His grandson Brandon preceded him in death
