Allen “Nick” Nicholson, 80 years old, a lifelong Carson City resident, passed away on November 17, 2024, in Carson City, NV with his family and friends by his side. Born on June 6, 1944, at the Romulos Air Force base in Detroit MI. (on the actual day of the United States landing in Normandy). Nick graduated from Carson High School in 1962, where he was active in sports. In later years, he participated in organizing numerous Class of ’62 reunion events.
Nick served honorably in the US Navy for two years, during the Vietnam Conflict, a period that instilled in him a discipline and camaraderie that he carried throughout his life. He was a true patriot and loved his country. After his military service, he left Carson City in March 1969 for Southern California, where he embarked on a diverse career path. Initially joining the Auto Club of California (AAA), he later became an insurance claims adjuster and then owned three successful body shops. After selling these at a profit in 1984, he took a position as a customer relations manager for an industrial uniform supply company in San Francisco. In 1986, Nick entered the Auto Wrecking business in Sparks, NV, moved back to Carson City, and became an employee of the State of Nevada and eventually retired from the Nevada Dept of Motor Vehicles.
An avid sports fan, Nick cherished NASCAR, WNBA, NF and college sports. His enthusiasm for these activities was only matched by his commitment to his community and the love for his family. Nick is survived by his wife Carol, his daughter Holly and her husband Gene, a son Jason, twin grandsons, Micah and Carter. He especially enjoyed spending time socially with classmates and friends. Nick was a tremendous friend to numerous people. He was a member of E Clampus Vitus. He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister Sherry.
Nick requested that no services be held following his passing. He annually requested donations for his birthday every year to St. Jude’s Children Hospital, continuing his legacy of giving and community support.
