Michael Oliver, born Moses Stulsfast, then changed name to Moses Olizky, was born in Kaunus, Lithuania. He was one of five children to Esther his beloved mother, and Isaac, his father who was a tailor. He survived the atrocities of the holocaust and genocide, resulting in the death of his entire family other than his sister Frida. Following years in a German displaced person’s camp as teenager, he immigrated to the United States, with the support of HIAS. A brilliant visionary, he was a musical genius as much as he was a scientist and historian. He built many different companies, worked as an engineer, served with dedication to the Air Force in top secret scientific matters, and authored books and led entire movements, which were dedicated to building safe and free societies. He was beloved by his family, and he fiercely loved his wife, children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. He will be remembered for his incredible strength, his drive to survive, and his incredible and fierce love for his family and humanity. Michael was larger than life and had incredible strength and unsurpassed brilliance. Michael, as well as his incredible life story of survival, will never be forgotten.
He will be deeply missed by his surviving family including his wife Barbara Oliver, his children Mark, Glen and his wife Mary, Wendy, his grandchildren Adam, Ginger, Mikaela, Jada, Chinedu Victor, Chidi Solomon, and his great grandchildren Danika and Michael. On December 11, 2024, a memorial service was held in Miami, Florida presided by Rabbi Judith Seigel, at Mount Nebo Memorial Gardens, followed by a Shiva in his home.
He will be buried at Lone Mountain Cemetery on Tuesday, December 17th, 2024, at 1:30 PM PST. All who cared for him are invited to join his family and friends in remembering him, honoring him and sending him off.
If you would like to view his Holocaust Testimony for the Shoah Foundation, or to make donations to HIAS, which supports refugees and asylum seekers from around the world of all faiths, please reach out to his daughter Wendy by texting 305-240-9903. We know that Michael Oliver aka Moses Stulsaft and aka Moses Olitzky, would be grateful for any donations, large or small, to HIAS in order to help the 122.6 millions refugees in our world. “There but for the grace of God go I”. Michael felt that world peace and compassion were the most important matters in life.
