Vernon Wyatt, Washoe Tribal Elder and Former Washoe Tribal Chairman, journeyed on to his next life on December 10, 2024, at the age of 85.
Vernon was born on February 28, 1939, to Robert and Leasha Wyatt. He attended Douglas High School and married his sweetheart, Maxine Wyatt (Johnson), who he met in the 2nd grade. They began a life together which lasted 59 years and raised their family in the Carson Valley.
Vernon was a dedicated husband and father and the beloved patriarch of a very large family which included five children, 11 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
One of his favorite hobbies was fishing. His infamous response when asked, “Where did you catch that fish, Vern?”, would be, “Right here” while hooking his finger in the corner of his mouth.
He will be missed by many people and will always be remembered fondly for his humor and kind heart.
Vernon is preceded in his passing by his wife, Maxine Wyatt, son, Vernon Wyatt Jr, and Granddaughter, Jillian Crawford.
He is survived by his children Tamara Crawford, Valerie Allen, Vernine Wyatt and Clint Wyatt. Brothers Robert “Bob” Wyatt, Lloyd Wyatt, and sister Victoria Wyatt.
Services will be held at the Waltons Funeral Home in Carson City, NV on Monday, December 23, 2024. Viewing will be held from 9:00 am to 11:00am, service will begin at 11:00 am. Vernon will be laid to rest at Stewart Cemetery in Carson City, NV.
