Shirley was born Dec. 28, 1938, in Two Harbors Minn. The trip to the hospital was during a snowstorm.
Shirley graduated from Two Harbors High School then went to work for a local bank.
On Nov. 2, 1957, she married Charles Hill, and they embarked on route 66 to a 67 Summers’ Adventure living in Riverside and Anaheim, Calif. and Gardnerville, NV.
The adventure included 3 daughters, 3 grandchildren, and 2 great granddaughters, and trips to 65 foreign countries, some weird, some exotic, and some normal.
Shirley helped start a church in Riverside, worked for St. Olaf Lutheran Church in Calif. She helped and served in her church in Gardnerville.
Shirley also belonged to Republican Women’s group in Anaheim and Gardnerville, the daughters of Norway Sisterhood in Carson City, which was a fulfillment and joy for her.
Many Chrysler and local car clubs enjoyed her help and Pineapple upside down cakes and Jello.
Close to her heart were two teaching orphanages in Mexico, Foundation for His Ministry, and Bethesda Teaching Ministry, and St. Labre Indian Boarding school in Montana.
Shirley is survived by her husband Charles; daughters Marianne Brown and Twyla Hill; grandchildren Angie Bacon, Amy Seaman, and Nicole Brown, and two Bacon granddaughters. Kathy Hill passed in 2020.
A celebration of life service will be 11 a.m. Jan. 4, 2025, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Gardnerville, NV.
