Henry “Hank” Louis Wohle

Henry (Hank) Louis Wohle, 76, of Fallon, Nevada, passed away peacefully on June 3, 2024, at his farm. He was a dedicated father, grandfather, friend, mentor and so much more.
Hank Wohle was born on June 11, 1947, in Pittsburg, California, to William and Enid Wohle. He spent his formative years in Carmichael, California, graduating from Folsom High School, where his active involvement in football and track and field showcased his athletic prowess. After high school, Hank pursued higher education at the University of Nevada, Reno (UNR),
earning a Bachelor of Science in Secondary Education/ Physical Education. During his time at UNR, he joined the ROTC program and received his commission, laying the foundation for his military career.
Hank’s dedication to youth began early in his professional journey as he worked in Nye, Lyon, Washoe, and Churchill County School Districts, as well as Fairbanks, Alaska, serving as both an athletic coach and teacher. His commitment to shaping young minds and fostering growth was evident throughout his career. During the last 12 years, he continued this dedication to youth as the commander of the United States Naval Sea Cadet Corps.
In parallel to his educational endeavors, Hank served his country with distinction. Rising
through the ranks, he attained the rank of lieutenant colonel, marking a successful career in the armed forces. He served in numerous capacities with the Nevada National Guard; the Pentagon; National Guard Bureau; Second (2nd) Region HQ, Reserve Officer Training Corps
(ROTC) Command; UNR ROTC; United States Army Garrison, Hawaii; and notably deployed to Iraq in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom after having retired at the age of 60. Hank contributed to the education field as a professor of Military Science and high school teacher by enriching the lives of countless students with his knowledge and mentorship.
Among his major military awards were the Iraq Campaign Medal, Bronze Star medal, Meritorious Service Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Global War on Terrorism, Overseas Service Ribbon and the Governor’s Outstanding Unit award. Hank’s legacy is defined by his unwavering dedication to service, both in the military and in education. His life
was marked by a commitment to lifelong learning and a profound impact on those he encountered.
He will be remembered fondly for his contributions to his community, country, and his enduring spirit of service. Hank is survived by his loving family; his partner Susan Stark and their children, Sierra (Jon-Michael Rebbetoy), Jamee (Clay Richardson), and Lillie, as well as Danielle (Jon Ritter) and William Robert (Christina) Wohle and his grandchildren Jarrett, Austin, Riley and Tobie. Also surviving him are sisters Kathy and Hazel Wohle. He also leaves behind many dedicated friends with whom he worked and served with over the years.
He was preceded in death by his parents, William and Enid Wohle, grandson William Cole Wohle and his brother, William Rick Wohle.
A celebration of life will be held on Sept. 7, 2024. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the U.S. Naval Sea Cadets, POC Dave Johnson 775-666-5770, the succeeding commander. Henry (Hank) Wohle will be deeply missed and forever remembered by all who knew and loved him.
