Elisa Seiler, luz de mi vida, died peacefully at her home in Carson City on July 12, 2024, surrounded by family and friends. She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Edwin and Brittney, her son Dennis, and her husband Ralph. Elisa was born February 16, 1951, in a small village in El Salvador. She has two sisters, Maria de la Paz and Maria Marcia, and a brother, Jose Julian, who is deceased. Elisa was the first person in her town to graduate from High School and eventually she graduated from the University of El Salvador with a degree in Biology. She worked in the Natural History Museum of El Salvador where she met the Gringito who would later become her husband.
Elisa came to the United States in June 1980 and married Ralph. In 1988 they moved from Salt Lake City to Carson City and afterward adopted two infants from El Salvador, Edwin and Dennis. Elisa worked at Western Nevada Community College where she taught Biology Laboratory, Spanish, and English as a Second Language. She also worked at Nevada Hispanic Services because it allowed her to meet and serve the Hispanic community in Carson City. The last 10 years before her retirement she worked at the Carson City Library and taught Citizenship classes and ran several programs where she also worked with the Hispanic community. She loved traveling and after retiring visited the Caribbean, Europe, China, and
the Middle East.
Elisa was a shining light in our lives and left a legacy of love, service, and dedication behind her. In honor of her memory, a funeral mass will take place at 10 a.m. on Saturday, August 3rd at the Cathedral of St. Thomas Aquinas in Reno.
Elisa Seiler, luz de mi vida, murió pacíficamente en su casa de Carson City el 12 de julio de 2024 rodeada de familiares y amigos. Le sobreviven su hijo y nuera, Edwin y Brittney, su hijo Dennis, y su esposo Ralph. Elisa nació el 16 de febrero de 1951 en un pequeño pueblo de El Salvador. Tiene dos hermanas, María de la Paz y María Marcia, y un hermano, José Julián, fallecido. Elisa fue la primera persona en su pueblo en graduarse de la Escuela Secundaria y eventualmente se graduó de la Universidad de El Salvador con la licenciatura en Biología. Trabajó en el Museo de Historia Natural de El Salvador donde conoció al Gringito que luego se convertiría en su esposo.
Elisa llegó a los Estados Unidos en junio de 1980 y se casó con Ralph. En 1988 se mudaron de Salt Lake City a Carson City y luego adoptaron a dos bebés de El Salvador, Edwin y Dennis. Elisa trabajó en Western Nevada Community College donde enseñó laboratorio de biología, español e inglés como segundo idioma. También trabajó en Nevada Hispanic Services porque le permitió conocer y servir a la comunidad hispana en Carson City. Los últimos 10 años antes de su jubilación, trabajó en la Biblioteca de Carson City, impartió clases de ciudadanía y dirigió varios programas en los que también trabajó con la comunidad hispana. Le encantaba viajar y después de jubilarse visitó el Caribe, Europa, China y Medio Oriente.
Elisa fue una luz brillante en nuestras vidas y dejó un legado de amor, servicio y dedicación detrás de ella. En honor a su memoria, se llevará a cabo una misa fúnebre a las 10 a. m. el sábado 3 de agosto en la Catedral de Santo Tomás de Aquino en Reno.
