Ronald A. Ruffo passed away June 3, 2024, surrounded by his loving family. He was born April 12, 1934, in Utica, New York and resided in Gardnerville, Nevada.
Ronald graduated Willow Glen High School in San Jose, California and then Technical School. He was a bricklayer, butcher, carpenter, and mechanic. You name it – he could fix it.
He was a devoted parishioner of St. Gall Catholic Community in Gardnerville, NV.
Ronald was preceded in death by his father, Joseph Ruffo, his mother, Mary (Ruffo) De Marco, his brothers: Thomas Ruffo (Mary), Patrick Ruffo (Carmela), Mario Ruffo (Rita), Joseph Ruffo (Elsie), Paul Ruffo (Vinnie), Ernest Ruffo (Marie) and his sisters: Angela Amato (Albert) and Philomena Newman (Ralph).
He is survived by his best friend and wife of 65 years, Maryanna (Cali) Ruffo, his sons: Ronald F. Ruffo, John A. Ruffo (Joanna), Philip D. Ruffo (Suzy), Patrick J. Ruffo, and his daughters: Colette Burroughs (William), Colene Ruffo, Corinda Ruffo, MaryAnn Sweeney (Tim), Amy Hurtado (Victor), and Tiffany Sargent.
Ronald has 16 grandchildren: Daniel Jernigan (Rachel), David Burroughs, Dustin Burroughs, AnnaMarie Burroughs, Kayla Ruffo, Megan Ruffo, Emma Ruffo, Madison Ruffo, Philip Ruffo Jr., Sebastian Ruffo, Kylie Ruffo, Spencer Ruffo, Gracelyn Ruffo, Bella Hurtado, Angelina Hurtado, and Arianna Hurtado. He has six great-grandchildren: Gianna Jackson, William Jackson III, Christian Jackson, Thérèse Jernigan, John Jernigan, and Lucia Jernigan.
Visitation will be Monday, June 10 from 6 pm to 9 pm, with a rosary at 7 pm at Walton’s Funeral Home: 1521 Church Street, Gardnerville, NV 89410.
A funeral mass will be held Tuesday, June 11 at 11 am, at St. Gall Catholic Church: 1343 Centerville Lane, Gardnerville, Nevada 89410, followed by internment at 1 pm, at Eastside Memorial Park: 1600 Buckeye Road, Minden, NV. The reception will be at Carson Valley Inn, 1627 Hwy 395 N, Minden, NV 89423.
