June Lydia Bennett

June 17, 1923 - February 6, 2024

June Lydia Bennett joined the “Good Man Above” as she would say on February 6th at 100 years old.

She was born at home on June 17, 1923, to the late Albert George and Lydia Frances (Swanson) Larson. She grew up as the only girl with three brothers, John, Harry, and Ernest all of whom she survived.

June married William (Bill) W. Bennett in 1945 and raised their daughters Carol Nemanic, Karen Nolte, and Clara (Tina) Van Duyn.

She is preceded in death by her grandsons Steven and William Rawson.

June is survived by her daughters and son-in-law Lucas Van Duyn; grandchildren, Jennifer (Markus) McEntee, Phil Nemanic, Rachel Nemanic; and great-grandchildren, Alex McEntee, Katrina McEntee, Skyla Sovenski, Gage Nemanic, Rylan Nemanic and Ava Nemanic; nephews
John (Arlene) Larson, Paul (Maureen) Larson and niece Joanne (Ken) Brown as well as her great niece and nephews, extended family and many dear friends.

June was active in many organizations: St. Paul’s Lutheran Church and their bell choir, Pony Express Re-Ride, Death Ride, and Amateur Radio. She had a lifelong love of learning and working. She went to business school straight out of high school and after raising her family,
went back to school and earned her associate degree at 66 years old. She retired from the federal and then Nevada State government and worked many odd jobs following including many sessions at the Nevada State Legislature where she finished the last session just shy of
her 90th birthday.

She was known for positive outlook and healthful ways. June stayed fit for all her years by being active, including 40 years of aerobics classes and nightly rides on her stationary bike. She would often state how grateful she was to have lived as long as she lived and to see the
things that she had seen. We are grateful to have had her as such a mainstay and inspiration in our lives.

Her memorial service will be held at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Carson City at 11am on March 2nd.

June's service will be live streamed for those who cannot attend in person:
