Rick Fields lost his battle with cancer on November 1, 2024, at Huntsman Cancer Institute in Salt Lake City. Born in Carson City on December 14, 1967, a graduate of Carson High School, Rick never called another place home. He was a plumbing contractor, the best of the best. He built his own business and loved his work and the people he worked with for over 30 years.
Rick’s garage was floor-to-ceiling tools and car parts. A lot of car parts. But mostly, it was a gathering place for tinkerers and friends who would come by, listen to music, fiddle with motors, and solve the problems of the world together. Everybody felt a bit better after leaving that sanctuary he created.
He was a master at growing vegetables in his garden, doing burnouts at his shop, playing pranks on friends, and making everybody feel like they could be themselves with him. His superpower was seeing the best in people and accepting them for who they were. He always made too much food for Sunday dinners, so he could send friends and family home with meals.
He married Carrie (Ayarbe) in 1998 and was a hero for his daughters-Sydney and Kyra. He was always there for them with endless support and laughter and was so proud of the title -Dad. He loved his family more than anything.
Rick showed everyone who knew him how to treat others, to accept others. He always saw the good in everything and lived a life of equal parts kindness, integrity, and goofball.
He was preceded in death by his father, Ken Fields, and leaves behind his loving wife Carrie, beautiful daughters, Sydney and Kyra, his mother Loretta, brother Jess, and countless family and friends who are better off in this life for having known him.
He left too soon.
A celebration of life will be held on December 20, 2024, 3 pm at his shop at 1721 Forrest Way, Carson City. Updates and information are available on his Facebook page: Rick Fields - https://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=61568243670932
