In Loving Memory of Tommy Elaine Cox: It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Tommy Elaine Cox, who left us peacefully on October 19, 2024, at the age of 89. A beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and friend, Tommy possessed kindness and humor that radiated in all directions and touched multiple lives.
Tommy loved life. She had a "green thumb" and took joy in tending her gardens and flowers. She was an excellent cook and will always be remembered for her unmatched pumpkin pies and potato salads. She loved animals and children and delighted in their innocence and honesty. Family meant everything to Tommy, and she strove to ensure that those she cared about always felt her support and love. She had a beautiful spirit surpassed only by the kindness of her heart. She was our matriarch and our example.
Tommy is survived by her devoted husband of 73 years, Donald Cox. Her fierceness of spirit lives on in her daughters, Melba (Fred) Schoenfeldt of Reno, NV and Brenda (James) Gradick of Fallon, NV; her granddaughters Krissy, Julie, Becky, Jamie, and Jessica; her five great-grandchildren, and her 2 great, great-grandchildren.
Tommy was source of support, offering a smile, a listening ear, or a helping hand whenever it was needed; her life was a testament to the idea that small acts of kindness can make a profound impact and, though we mourn the loss of such an extraordinary person, we find comfort in knowing that her love will continue to shine in all of us. She was deeply loved and will be missed beyond measure. In honor of Tommy, in lieu of sending flowers, we ask that you plant one; instead of offering condolences, we ask that you offer kindness to a stranger. May we all follow her example and strive to leave this world better than we found it. Thank you, Mom, for loving us, all, so well. Rest peacefully.
