Edward Robert Weninger

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Edward Robert Weninger, beloved father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, who peacefully left us at home on October 18, 2024, after a courageous battle with chronic lymphocytic leukemia. Ed was 88 years old.
Born in Chicago, Illinois, to Edward and Minna Weninger, Ed’s journey took him from the Midwest to the vibrant city of Las Vegas, Nevada, in 1962. A skilled carpenter with a strong work ethic, he quickly made a name for himself in the construction industry. In 1963, while working in Carson City, Ed’s chance meeting with Bud Stafford over lunch at Heiss’s Steak House changed the course of his life. Seizing the opportunity, Ed earned his contractor’s license and moved his family to Carson City, where he built a successful business framing homes for developers such as Bud Stafford, Ron Kitchen, and Garth Richards.
In 1974, Ed and his good friend Jack Dossey expanded their entrepreneurial spirit, opening Carson Marine and Equipment. What began as a boat store soon grew to include motorcycles, snowmobiles, and a wide range of accessories, reflecting Ed’s diverse passions and love for adventure. In the mid-1980s, Ed returned to his roots in general contracting, where he proudly built custom homes and commercial buildings, always with a focus on quality craftsmanship.
Outside of his work, Ed was driven by his love for travel and the water. For over two decades, he split his time between Carson City and his cherished home at Lake Havasu, where he spent countless hours boating and enjoying the lake with family and friends. These moments on the water were a true reflection of Ed’s zest for life and his ability to make the most of every day.
Ed leaves behind a legacy of hard work, dedication, and love for his family. He is survived by his\ three children, Sherri Jorgensen, Jim Weninger, and Tom Weninger (Shayni), as well as his cherished grandchildren, Matt Jorgensen (Alyse), Alyssa Rauchle (Colton), Jake Weninger, and Mersadeys French (Stephen) and greatgrandchildren, Jayden, Quinn, Canyon, and Luke. He will also be deeply missed by many extended family members and friends who were fortunate to know him.
Ed’s life was a testament to the power of perseverance, the value of hard work, and the\ importance of family. His legacy will live on in the countless lives he touched, and he will forever be remembered with love and gratitude. Rest in peace, Ed. You will be missed, but never forgotten.
