Alfred Charles Annett

April 30, 1942 - September 28, 2024

Alfred Charles Annett, affectionately known as Al, of Bridgeport, CA, went to his eternal home with our Lord on Sept. 28, 2024, at the age of 82.

Al was born in Reno, NV on April 30, 1942, to Alpha Day Annett and Norman Annett, both of whom predeceased him, as did his sister and brother-in-law, Norma Jeanne Annett Costa and James Costa, and his beloved aunt, Dorthella Silva.

Al grew up in Smith Valley, NV, working alongside his parents at their ranch as well as their seasonal fishing resort, Annett’s Mono Village, in Bridgeport, CA which opened in April of 1952.

Al shared a love of mining which he carried in his blood from both his grandfather and father and spent an ample amount of time in the hills of Sweetwater Summit, NV prospecting in his father’s beloved Silverado mine. He was also an accomplished pilot and owned and operated his own plane, generously offering flights to family and friends over the mountains and lakes that he so loved.

Al and Josephine Birch were married in 1963. In 1979, Al and his wife built and established Annett & Sons Auto Parts store in Bridgeport, which he helped to operate alongside Josie for many years. He was a loving father to his three children, and was a faithful and devoted son, caring for both of his parents as they declined in health during their later years.

Al is survived by his wife, Josephine (Josie) Annett of 61 years, his three children, Norman (Kellie) Annett, Arleen (Jeffrey) Mills, & Allen (Lori) Annett, five grandchildren, one great-grandchild and many extended family members and lifelong friends.

Those who knew Al will remember him for his genuine smile, his endless jokes, his heartfelt laugh, and his deep-rooted and unwavering faith and love for Jesus. We find solace in knowing he’s been reunited with those he loves in Heaven.

The family wishes to thank the entire staff of Fernley Estates for their loving and compassionate care provided to Al during these last few years.

No funeral service will be held. Final internment will be at the Bridgeport Cemetery.

“Whosoever believeth in Him should not perish but have eternal life.” (John 3:15)

Donations may be made in Al’s memory to the Mono County Historical Society P.O. Box 417, Bridgeport, CA 93517.
