Deborah Lee Shirley
January 23, 1948 - August 31, 2024
Deborah Lee Shirley Glick passed away on August 31, 2024, at Carson Tahoe Hospital.
She was born on January 23, 1948, in Auburn, California, to Mayola Aldine Hulbert Shirley and Wellington “Red” Wiley Shirley. They lived in California, Arizona, and Nevada--where they remained.
As a teenager, she enjoyed barrel racing, team roping, and softball.
She began driving bus, part-time after school, when she was 16. After high school graduation, and brief jobs at a Tahoe riding stable and then the Nevada Appeal, she started working for the Lyon County School District. That led to a 40-year career as a driver and driver trainer, then eventually as the area transportation supervisor for all five schools in Dayton.
She spent retirement planting flowers in her yard in antique collectables and enjoying her family.
She was preceded in death by both of her parents.
She is survived by her brothers, William Shirley and Charles Shirley. Her daughters, Monie Byers, Kathy Glick, and Barbara Varrick. Her grandchildren, Mattie Byers-Hoskin, Ashley Nessling, and Owen Nessling. As well as numerous nieces and nephews.
