We are heartbroken to announce the passing of John Charles Allen, 81, on February 4, 2025, in Carson City, Nevada.
Born in San Francisco, California, May 30th, 1943, to William and Ellie Allen, John was raised in an Irish family where he developed his passion for storytelling and a sharp sense of humor. After attending Sequoia High School, he served in the United States Army before graduating from San José State University. Johns’ passion for writing led to success as a published author in New York City before moving to Carson City in 1975 where he built a legacy for his family.
Beyond professional accomplishments, John found joy in writing, reading, and fishing— pastimes which reflected both his creative spirit and appreciation for the simple pleasures of life.
John leaves behind his wife of 37 years, Blair; their beloved sons William, Taylor, and John Henry; daughter-in-law Ashley; grandchildren Robert, Ellie and Hope; and his cherished brothers Denny and Richard.
A memorial service will be held 1:00 p.m. March 25, 2025, at Walton’s Carson City, 1281 North Roop Street.
The Allen family welcomes friends and loved ones to gather after the service for a celebration of John’s life with food, drink and memories. Comstock Village Clubhouse, 2601 East College Parkway, Carson City.
John lives on through his sons and the endless stories he shared. He will be remembered with love and laughter.
