The B-29 Superfortress lends much of its early history to the Wendover Army Air Base on the Utah-Nevada border that trained crews to fly the military’s largest plane in the waning days of World War II. Wendover became an independent air base from Fort Douglas in March 1942 where the B-17 and B-24 bomber groups trained
