Colored ball. We owe the colored citizens of Carson an apology for not noticing their party held on the night of the 22nd. But in justification of this slight we can say with our contemporary, we failed to receive an invitation; and further, that our present local is a substitute, having been on duty but a day or two. We were informed it was a grand success.

The Walker Lake Bulletin will in the future publish twice a week. This shows that the Bulletin, which is one of the most outspoken papers in the state, is growing up with the country. We hope soon to see it running daily.

The road race. Weather permitting, there will be a road race among the wheelmen of this city Sunday. The race is the first of the season and nearly all of the boys are going to take hand in the occasion.

Fire in the rear. Yesterday a Granger came into town and thought to indulge in his stage for the royal Gilroy Habano; after smoking up six or eight inches of the weed, he put the stump into his pocket, thing to take a rest and smoke the rest the next day. In a few minutes he discovered that there was a large and unhealthy fire in the rear, the hay seed in his pocket had ignited from the cigar stump, and the blisters in that locality so often by Darwin were numerous and painful, but not dangerous.

The first move of the executive committee of the Carson Carnival was to decide a name of the affair. It was decided to call it the Carson City Carnival and Street Fair, the same as the first and successful issue. Then came the choosing of the colors. It was finally decided that the colors should be red, yellow and green so the inhabitants can now don the colors and spread the news to neighbors.

Carson City will have the support of the Nevada Municipal Association when it bids for financial aid from the state at the next meeting of the Nevada Legislature.

Rev. Gordon Millard, pastor of the Capitol Assembly of God Church in Carson City, is reported in fairly good condition in Carson-Tahoe Hospital following an automobile accident, where he has been confined since April 20.

Although no injuries or damages were reported in the Carson City area during Tuesday’s quake, which measured 6.2 on the Richter scale at its center in southern Santa Clara County, there were reports of plants and light fixtures swaying and residents feeling sick and dizzy.
