Obituary: Dorothy E. Sommer-Rabel

A graveside service for Dorothy E. Sommer-Rabel, 80, a Minden resident, will be at 11 a.m. June 2 at the Churchill Public Cemetery, 500 Rio Vista Drive, Fallon.

Mrs. Sommer-Rabel died May 6, 2003, in Carson City. She was born in Idaho, and moved to Fallon in 1942 where she married W.W. "Jim" Sommer, who preceded her in death, and later to Joe Goria, who also preceded her in death.

She moved to Carson City in the 1970s, later marrying Willie Joe Rabel.

Mrs. Sommer-Rabel was one of the first female butchers in Northern Nevada and worked for ranchers and businesses throughout her life.

Among her survivors are her husband, Willie Joe Rabel of Weatherford, Texas; brother, Jack Petri; sister, Geri Biledeau of Missoula, Mont.; daughter, June DeLorey; and granddaughter, Tina DeLorey of Minden.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's Association of Northern California and Northern Nevada, 705 S. Wells Ave. 225, Reno NV 89502.
