A Carson City father remained in custody Tuesday charged with manufacturing methamphetamine and child abuse after an inactive meth lab was found in his Menlo Street apartment while his 9-year-old slept in another room.

Dennis George Folliott, 34, was being held in the Carson City Jail on suspicion of felony manufacturing a controlled substance, possession of methamphetamine, possession of meth for sale, trafficking, gross misdemeanor child abuse and misdemeanor possession of marijuana. Bail was set at $50,000 cash.

According to the police report, Folliott was at the home of his estranged girlfriend on Railroad Road Drive when the woman's father asked him to leave.

After deputies arrived, Folliott was arrested when methamphetamine and marijuana were allegedly found in his pocket.

Folliott told the officer his daughter was alone at the apartment, according to the report.

A deputy found the girl asleep in a bedroom when he arrived at the apartment and allegedly found items believed to be associated with methamphetamine production.

After fire crews cleared the apartment as being safe, deputies seized an apple juice container with liquid and white powder, a plastic soda bottle with a green liquid, a mason jar with a dark liquid and a soda bottle with an amber liquid and a white crystal substance on the bottom.

The girl was released to a family friend.
