Jose A. Salais, 70, a Carson City resident since 1996, died March 13, 2006, in Carson City.
He was born Feb. 4, 1936, in El Paso, Texas, to Jose and Frances Salais.
Mr. Salais married Juana in 1995.
Before moving to Carson City, he lived in Arcadia, Calif.
He worked at the Carson Nugget and later for Pic Mount in Carson City.
He enjoyed collecting model antique cars, painting, spending time with his family, working around the house, football and baseball.
Among his survivors are his wife of Carson City; daughter and son-in-law, Nina and Orlando Barreras of Bakersfield, Calif.; sister, Alice Salais of Long Beach, Calif.; and four grandchildren.
Burial will be at All Souls Cemetery in Long Beach, Calif.
Walton's Chapel of the Valley is in charge of arrangements.
