Five cattle were killed and Highway 208 was closed for several hours Saturday after a truck hauling cattle tipped over.

The accident occurred just before 11 a.m. Saturday on Highway 208 near Mason Valley when the truck, bearing the Harris Ranch insignia, took a sharp corner, shifting the load and causing its trailer to overturn, according to Nevada Highway Patrol Sgt. Mark Clark.

The trailer was carrying approximately 60 head of cattle when it tipped over. The driver of the truck was treated for minor injuries and released.
