Ernest 'Shakey' Shields

Ernest "Shakey" Shields, 81, died May 23, 2006 at Washoe Medical Center.

Mr. Shields was born May 21, 1925, in Webb City, Mo., to Clarence and Beulah Shields.

He served in the U.S. Navy submarine service during World War II.

He was an electronics technician and worked at several Naval and Air Force bases in several projects involving air flight. He worked at NASA on the GEMINI and APOLLO programs. After retirement, he acquired the Bank Club Saloon in Carson City.

Among his survivors are his wife of 58 years, Daisy Shields; sons Clarence and Ernest Shields; daughter Patty Kellenbarger; brothers Dick and Harry Shields; sister Ruth King; one grandchild and one nephew.

Truckee Meadows Cremation is in charge of arrangements.
