Grace Eckenrode

Grace Eckenrode, 91, a former 20-year Carson City resident, died Sept. 13, 2006 in Palm Springs, Calif.

Mrs. Eckenrode was born May 23, 1915 in Hughes County, Okla., to John and Nellie Carpenter.

She married Fred on Dec. 24, 1934.

During the World War II, she worked for the U.S. Rubber Co. in Los Angeles sealing tanks for use in the military.

She later managed apartment buildings.

While living in Carson City, her favorite place to visit was the Carson Nugget, where she was a well-known customer.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Fred, of 71 years.

Her survivors include her daughter, Freda Freeman of Palm Springs; two grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and one great-great grandchild.

There will be no services.
