The Western Nevada Community College women's soccer team gave a valiant effort against a NAIA four-year school, but in the end fell 1-0 to Northwest Christian of Washington in a game played in Idaho on Saturday.

WNCC played Northwest Christian to a 0-0 tie for most of the contest before Nortwest was able to score late in the game for the win.

"I thought we did better than yesterday," said WNCC coach Hillary Arthur, commenting on Friday's 2-0 loss to North Idaho in a Scenic West Athletic Conference game in which North Idaho scored two controversial goals in the second half. "We played a really solid game.

"Again we're not lucky in front of the net. The balls go wide or we're not able to get the shot off, just little things like that."

Dominique Glude, who sustained a knee injury against North Idaho, didn't play. Arthur praised the play of Meghan Olsen, who again took Glude's place at sweeper. Arthur also praised Demi Vega's defense and the play of Hannah Lee at forward.

WNCC (3-5-2) returns to conference play at 3 p.m. Friday at Edmonds Park when it hosts Salt Lake. Arthur said she hopes Glude will be able to play.

"I want her at 100 percent," Arthur said. "If she can go 100 percent she will be out there."
