The Economic Development Authority of Western Nevada has announced that Patagonia's Reno Service Center is the first private company in the nation to receive incentives for its recent Gold level Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design certification from the U.S. Green Building Council.

The company received property tax abatements of 50 percent over the next 10 years for the expansion of its distribution center. In 2005, the Nevada State Legislature passed Assembly Bill 3, making Nevada one of only two states to mandate that all public buildings be built or renovated to the LEED standard. The legislation also provided a real property tax abatement exclusive to Nevada.

NDEP employees honored at EPA awards

Two employees of the Nevada Division of Environmental Protection received national recognition from the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency for their efforts to protect and preserve Nevada's environment in 2006.

Recycling coordinators Chester Sergent and Kathryn Fergus received their honors during the EPA's ninth annual Environmental Awards Ceremony in San Francisco, held April 16. Sergent is NDEP's recycling coordinator for northern Nevada, and Fergus is the agency's recycling coordinator for Southern Nevada.

Bristlecone announces partnership with Valley Construction

Bristlecone Family Resources has announced a partnership with Valley Construction Company to build a 15,000-square-foot facility to provide quality, state-of-the-art addiction treatment services to adult men and women in northern Nevada.

The site has yet to be determined. Valley Construction will act as construction manager to coordinate the necessary engineering and design, and once the site is selected, will coordinate all work, acting as the general contractor.

Carson medical center will be latest Sky Cam site

The newest KRNV sky camera, utilized by KRNV to help keep people abreast of weather conditions, began service atop Carson Tahoe Regional Medical Center on Thursday. The sky cam will provide a 360 degree view of the Eagle and Carson valleys. This is the fifth such camera utilized by KRNV.

Nominations for saleswomen of Nevada due May 10

Professional Saleswomen of Nevada are currently accepting nominations for saleswomen who are exceptional, dedicated professionals who provide outstanding client service, strive to improve themselves and are active in the community.

Stipech named manager of KUNR FM

The University of Nevada, Reno has named David Stipech as the new station manager for it's 88.7 KUNR FM radio station. Stipech, who had been serving as the interim director for the past nine months, assumed his new duties the first of the year. Stipech has done on-air broadcasting, local market sales and management during his career in the radio industry.

City National reports first-quarter 2007 income

City National Corporation, the parent company of City National Bank and Business Bank of Nevada, has reporter first-quarter 2007 net income of $56.5 million, or $1.15 per share, as compared to $57.2 million, or $1.12 per share for the first quarter of 2006.

Average loan balances were up 10 percent from last year, and average deposits grew to $11.9 billion, a three percent increase from first quarter 2006.
