Carson City


Educators' Closet is accepting donations


The Educators' Closet, 604 W. Musser St., Carson City, is a reuse/recycling program for educators in the Carson City, Douglas and Lyon county school districts. This program accepts items, which would otherwise fill up our landfill. These items are made accessible to teachers for free for use in their classroom.


Donation requests from educators include: Office supplies, craft items, pencils, markers, crayons, small toys (for prize boxes), chapter books, white boards, stickers, the list is endless. If you are spring cleaning and would like to donate call Kristi Pulizzotto at 283-1513 or e-mail kpulizzotto@Carson.k12.nv.us. The closet is open from 12:30-5 p.m. Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays.


'Sweet Charity' musical in Carson City


"Sweet Charity," Neil Simon's musical comedy, will be presented by Carson Performing Arts 7:30 p.m. Saturday and March 30 and 31 and 2 p.m. Sunday and April 1.


Celebrating the pop culture of the 1960s, the show revolves around Charity's search for true romance in a changing world. All time favorite tunes are featured, such as "I'm a Brass Band," "Hey Big Spender" and "If My Friends Could See Me Now."


All performances are at the Bob Boldrick Theatre in the Carson City Community Center, 851 E. William St. Tickets are $8 for CHS Students; $9 for other students and senior citizens and $10 general admission. Tickets are available at the door. Call 887-0438.




Douglas County


Young at Heart plans Jobs hike Saturday


The Young at Heart Senior Citizens Club will be holding their monthly hike Saturday up the Jobs Peak Ranch Trail. They will depart from the Douglas County Senior Center, 2300 Meadow Lane in Gardnerville, at 9 a.m. This is a three-mile round trip hike with a slight elevation gain. There is a $1 transportation fee, and participants should bring a lunch, water, and wear good hiking shoes. Call 783-6455.

Soulive to jive at Crystal Bay club


Soulive is straight soul, jazz and hip-hop; it's always funky. Groove with them on Friday at the Tahoe Biltmore in Crystal Bay at 9 p.m. Tickets are $25 at the door.

French trio plays in Truckee's Moody's Bistro & Lounge


Samarabalouf, a delightfully crazy string trio from France, will bring its style of gypsy jazz to Moody's Bistro & Lounge in Truckee for a free performance 9 p.m. Saturday.
