Galena girls easily beat Foothill

GALENA GIRLS 43, FOOTHILL 17

Galena got off to a slow start, but pulled away for a big lead in the second quarter on its way to an easy win. The Grizzlies (2-0) were coming off a stunning 56-47 upset over perennial state power Centennial on Thursday.

The Grizzlies led Foothill just 8-4 after one quarter, but outscored Foothille 23-6 in the second period to take a 31-10 halftime lead. Galena went on to lead 41-12 after three quarters. Langley Iverson scored 16 points and Colleen Kern added six points for Galena.

CHS FRESHMEN BOYS 56, FERNLEY 34

Carson advanced to the Fallon Optimist Tournament finals where it will play Fallon at 11:30 a.m. today. Carlos Carrillo scored nine points, Danny Gall had eight points, Trey Jensen and Jon Parker each had seven points, Chris Steele had six points, Timmy Miranda had five points, Adam Whitt and Jon Lanuza each had three points, Tyler Collins, Logan Philippi and Matt Cooper all had two points and Tim Dotson and Andrew Jones each added one point in the win over Fernley.
