Street closures for Carson City Honors Our Troops Parade


Stewart Street will be closed 8 a.m., Saturday for the Carson City Honors Our Troops Parade and craft fair from Highway 395 on the south to William Street on the north. Also affected will be the following streets: N. Walsh; N. Anderson; N. Valley; Stewart at E. Washington; E. Washington; Caroline; Robinson; Spear; Telegraph; Proctor; Musser; E. King; 2nd; 3rd; 4th; 5th; 7th; 8th; 9th; Little Lane; Wright Way; Proctor Street from Carson Street to Stewart Street; Plaza Street and North Fall from Telegraph to Musser.

Mile High Jazz Band plays tonight


The Mile High Jazz Band presents "Jazz in the Merry Month of May," 8-10 p.m., today at Comma Coffee, 312 S. Carson St.


Admission is $5 general; $4 MHJB Association members; and free for those age 18 and younger. Swing Dance lessons precede the band, 6-7:30 p.m. for $5 additional.

Registration for computer classes at senior center


• Registration is open for the June Computer classes offered at the Carson City Senior Center, 911 Beverly Drive. Cost is $40.


• Introduction to Computers will begin 1-3 p.m., May 27- June 19. The class is designed for the beginning student and is limited to nine students.


• Registration is open for a workshop on Internet and E-mail 9 a.m.-noon, June 9 and 11 offered at the Carson City Senior Center, 911 Beverly Drive. Cost is $20. The course is for those who possess basic computer skills.

Nevada Women's Networking Group


The Nevada Women's Networking Group meets 6 p.m., the second Tuesday of each month at Z Bistro, 725 Basque Way.


Susan Wasko, attorney speaking on estate planning and Wesley Kikuchi, speaking on brain health will be at the May meeting. Indulge in an evening of fun and education on women's topics.

Vendors and donations sought


The Carson City Historical Society is seeking vendors for its annual yard sales in 2008. Donations are also being accepted. Yard sales are June 7-8; July 5-6; Aug. 2-3, and Sept. 6-7 at the Roberts House, 1207 N. Carson St. Proceeds from the sales benefit the future building of the carriage house.
