Through November, Nevada had a total of 349 traffic fatalities in 2021 as of the end of November.
That is just shy of a 20 percent increase compared to the first 11 months of 2020 when the state had suffered 292 fatalities.
The news was bad in Carson City as well with six deaths so far, including the couple killed when a pickup truck towing a boat down from Lake Tahoe ran through the intersection of I-580, U.S. 395 and Highway 50 at the southern border of the capital. Carson also had two pedestrian deaths so far.
But Douglas County reported a decrease from six to four fatalities thus far.
Washoe County was also down from 47 to 41 deaths, a nearly 13 percent decrease.
The biggest increase was in populous Clark County where the number of fatalities increased just under 21 percent in the 11 months of 2021 to 209.
Pedestrian deaths increased by four to 79 and motorcyclist deaths from 55 to 61 so far.
And the number of fatalities involving scooters, mopeds and ATVs increased from one to five, all of them in Clark County.
