Inmate had drugs where the sun does not shine, Carson City Sheriff says

The following people were booked into the Carson City Jail. All are presumed innocent unless convicted in court.
FRIDAY, AUGUST 27
• At 3:15 p.m., Melissa Simcoe, 40, was arrested at the Northern Nevada Correctional Center for allegedly furnishing controlled substances to an inmate. She was also charged with possession of heroin and meth and paraphernalia. Bail was set at $23,500.
• At 4:37 p.m., a 24-year-old woman was charged with embezzlement for allegedly taking $2,300 in cash from the Smith’s grocery store. Bail was set at $1,000.
• At 6:58 p.m., Allen Parkins, 23, was charged with possession of a controlled substance after the car he was riding in was stopped at Spear and Robinson streets for failure to maintain a lane. He was also charged with violating parole conditions and alternative sentencing conditions. At the jail, he was re-arrested Sunday on more drug charges. The arrest report says he was able to conceal drugs in his anus after his initial arrest. He was charged with possession of heroin, meth and paraphernalia as well as possession with intent to sell. Bail on those charges was set at $11,000. In the initial arrest on Friday, the 45-year-old driver was arrested on a warrant charging failure to appear after the traffic stop for an expired license plate. He was also charged with failure to maintain a lane. Bail was set at $522.
SATURDAY
• At 1:07 a.m., a 44-year-old woman was charged with DUI 1st alcohol after Sheriff Ken Furlong stopped her vehicle on West Winnie Lane for driving without headlights on. Bail was set at $1,025.
• At 11:51 a.m., Jordan Weber, 23, was arrested on multiple felony counts after deputies responded to Carson Tahoe Regional Medical Center where the victim told deputies Weber had entered his apartment on Country Village and held him at knife point for several hours, holding the blade at his throat and cutting his foot before leaving. Weber was arrested by other deputies and charged with assault with a deadly weapon, false imprisonment, preventing a victim from reporting a crime and resisting public officers by fleeing when they approached to arrest him. Bail was set at $75,300.
SUNDAY
• At 12:39 a.m., a 31-year-old was charged with DUI 1st alcohol after a traffic stop at Musser and Stewart for failure to use a turn signal. Bail was set at $1,025.
• At 4:57 a.m., Shawn Smith, 29, was arrested on a charge of battery with a deadly weapon at Carson Tahoe Regional Medical Center. The arrest report says the victim was a hospital security guard who was sprayed with bear mace.  Smith was arrested after a traffic stop on Highway 50. He described the incident as self defense saying he sprayed the guard after being cussed at and seeing the guard reach for something on his belt. Bail was set at $30,000.
• At 7:40 p.m., a 57-year-old was arrested on a gaming control board warrant charging petit larceny after a traffic stop for an expired registration. He was also charged with no valid driver’s license. Bail was set at $1,200.
• At 11:30 p.m., a 28-year-old woman was charged with driving on a suspended license after a traffic stop at Beverly and Roop for an expired temporary registration. Bail was set at $525.
MONDAY
• At 12:13 a.m., Christopher Swezey, 58, was charged with DUI 2nd offense and possession of meth after a traffic stop on Carson Street for a broken tail light. Bail was set at $5,025.
• At 1:15 p.m., a 20-year-old was arrested in the Nugget parking lot on a warrant charging contempt of court. He also is accused of violating a protective order but that order had not been served. Bail was set at $1,000.

TUESDAY
• At 9:56 p.m., Diana Khalil, 32, was charged with felony DUI after a traffic stop on South Carson Street for failure to maintain a lane. According to the arrest report, it’s her third DUI within seven years. One caller advised dispatch that her vehicle nearly hit his before hitting a corner curb and popping a tire. She was also charged with driving without an interlock device on the vehicle and driving on a revoked or suspended license. Bail was set at $22,040.
WEDNESDAY
• At 1:36 p.m., Ruben Angel, 18, was arrested on six felony and 10 misdemeanor charges after an incident that spanned two days. It began Aug. 31 with a pursuit of a vehicle that refused to stop in the area of Roop and College Parkway. That pursuit was suspended after numerous traffic violations deputies agreed were causing a serious danger to others on the roadways. They again found the vehicle on Wednesday driving west on College Parkway and another pursuit began as the driver refused to stop. Two deputies on motorcycles had to lay their bikes down to avoid being struck and another deputy’s patrol car was sideswiped. The driver refused several attempts to get it to stop until one deputy rammed it in the rear with his patrol car causing it to crash. The arrest report says Angel was arrested after a fight with deputies, He was charged with six felony counts: two of assault with a deadly weapon on a police officer, eluding with endangerment, the unlawful taking of a vehicle — his father’s car — and felony violation of youth parole. He was charged with 10 misdemeanor counts: two of reckless driving, hit and run on an occupied vehicle, two of speeding, two of driving on the wrong side of the road, resisting an officer, a suspended registration and no valid driver’s license. Bail was set at $85,360.

THURSDAY
• At 5:24 p.m., a Carson woman was arrested outside the Squeeze In on Curry Street after deputies responded to an intrusion alarm at the business. She was booked on an outstanding warrant charging injury to property. Bail was set at $7,500.
• At 6:08 p.m., a 50-year-old man was charged with DUI after a traffic stop on East Nye Lane for failure to maintain a lane. Bail was set at $1,040.
