McQueen escapes Carson High boys tennis in opener

The Carson High boys tennis team picked up seven sets last Thursday before ultimately falling 11-7 to the Lancers of McQueen.

Cannon Myler, a junior, won two of his three singles matches with scores of 6-1 and 6-2.

Zachery Laaker earned two points in singles as well — 6-1, 6-0 — for Carson while Jacob Budd and Dylan Olson won a pair of sets for Carson.

Rowan Munoz and Omar Quintanilla picked up the final point in doubles. 

The Carson High girls team fell to McQueen, 10-8.


Dust Devil volleyball drops two at home

Dayton High School volleyball is 2-4 on the young season after falling to Elko and Spring Creek at home over the weekend.

The Dust Devils won the opening set against Elko before dropping the final three.

Saturday’s matchup with Spring Creek went the same way as Dayton took the opening set, 25-17, before the Spartans reeled off three straight – 25-23, 25-18, 27-25.


Dayton, Sierra Lutheran football each snag second win

Thanks to 14 points in the final quarter Friday night, the Dayton High School football team was able to down Incline, 14-13.

The victory moved the Dust Devils to 2-1.

Sierra Lutheran squared off with Wells for the second time in three weeks, besting the Leopards, 30-0.


Dayton soccer loses to Elko, cross country competes in Fernley

The Dayton High girls soccer team fell, 9-0, to Elko Saturday.

On the boys side, Elko picked up a 10-0 win.

The Dust Devil cross country teams went out to Fernley Saturday as two freshman and a sophomore represented Dayton.

On the boys side, freshman Jayden Woods posted a 19:27 while sophomore Jakobe Jackson ran a 20:54.

For the Dayton girls, freshman Makayla Renfrow ran the 4,000 meter event in 25:47.
