The Punt, Pass, Kick football skills competition returns to Fallon next month.

Youngsters will be able to compete in 10-division event, which is hosted by the Fallon Elks Lodge 2239, on Oct. 14 at the Edward Arciniega Athletic Complex. All participants start at the local competition level and cannot compete in more than one local event during the year after completing registration.

The local competitions are held nationwide from August through October. The top-two scores in each local age group from both individual skills and overall totals advance to the regional competition. Those participants can then advance to the national finals.

The 10 divisions for both boys and girls include ages 6-7, 8-9, 10-11, 12-13 and 14-15. The age cutoff is 11:59 p.m. on Dec. 31.

Registration is online at www.ppkusa.com. After accessing the home page, families will click on the Competitor Signup link, which takes them to a list of available locations. Search “Fallon” to avoid scrolling through the list to locate the local competition, or can access the page via /www.ppkusa.com/event-details/elks-lodge-2239.

Girls youth basketball registration

Registration is open until Oct. 8 for the girls league of the Fallon Youth Basketball season.

The league is open to girls in grades first through sixth. The registration fee is $65 per participation and includes a T-shirt and complete season of basketball.

Registration can be completed online at http://fallonyouthbasketball.leagueapps.com. Families will need to join LeagueApps to begin the registration process. Late registration will not be accepted.

Volunteers for coaches are needed as the league will be able to field only as many teams as they have committed coaches.

All coaches and players must attend their age group skills night, which is used to assess players on essential skills to place players on balanced teams. Players in the first and second grade division do not participate in the skills night.

Families are encouraged to contact Tim Sorensen at 775-217-3130 if their child cannot attend the skills night.
