Night of Fights boxing event returns Friday

A year after moving to the Rafter 3C Arena, the annual Night of Fights boxing event returns this Friday with a loaded card.

“We're excited for Night of Fights this year. It will be bigger and better than last year,” said Fallon wrestling coach Trevor deBraga, whose program puts up the annual fundraising event. “After last year, we learned a lot from what we can do better and more proficiently to make the event better.”

Doors open at 6 p.m. and preliminary fights begin at 6:30 p.m. The main fight card is at 7 p.m. Tickets are $20 (cash only) and children 17 and under and students with ID cards are $10. VIP tables, which are located at ground level, are nearly sold out. Those interested in VIP table purchases need to contact Stacy Prinz at 775-223-0067.

This year’s fight card features 24 bouts.

More than 60 students practiced over the last several weeks and deBraga said they changed the fight lineup to “reward the kids who attended almost every practice.”

The revamped card also ends the night earlier than last year after the fights ran late.
