Emergency crews respond to fuel leak near Fremont Street in Fernley

At approximately 2:36 p.m., North Lyon County Fire Protection District was dispatched to the scene of a small brush fire caused by arcing power lines near the Union Pacific rail line on Fremont Street in Fernley.

 At approximately 2:36 p.m., North Lyon County Fire Protection District was dispatched to the scene of a small brush fire caused by arcing power lines near the Union Pacific rail line on Fremont Street in Fernley. 

Upon arrival, firefighters discovered a fuel leak. Responders immediately established a perimeter and isolated the leak.

Lyon County Sheriff’s Office and Lyon County Emergency Management are on scene and have notified residents in the area. 

There is currently no active fire and the leak has been contained. Residents are asked to avoid the area while emergency crews mitigate and clean up the leak.
