LCSO, North Lyon Fire confirm former Fernley councilmember McCassie dead

At 7:37 p.m. May 2, Lyon County Sheriff’s Office and North Lyon Fire Department personnel were dispatched to the 1000 block of Red Rock Road in Fernley for a report of a medical emergency. Once on scene, lifesaving efforts were conducted, but ultimately, Dan McCassie of Fernley was confirmed deceased from what investigators believe to be natural causes. This is an active and ongoing investigation.

McCassie was a beloved member of the Fernley community, serving on the city council and the fire board and owned the local pawn shop and participated in other community activities.
