Commission meets in Elko

The Nevada State Board of Wildlife Commissioners will meet on Friday and Saturday in Elko.


That two-day meeting will be held at the Hilton Garden Inn Hotel at 3650 E. Idaho St.


-- The commission's Friday agenda begins at 1:30 p.m. and includes:


Presentation of tenure awards for years of service to several (NDOW) employees.


Selection of commission officers and committee assignments.


A report by the Governor's Sage Grouse Conservation Team.


A report on the Central Nevada Elk Management Plan.


An update on the Nevada wildlife data system.


-- The Saturday agenda will begin at 8 a.m. and includes:


A report on the bighorn sheep management plan.


Action on the big game management plans.


Establishing seasons, bag limits and regulations for upland game, migratory birds and furbearing species.


A report on statewide climatological conditions.


-- The wildlife commission's next meeting will be held on Sept. 7-8 in Lovelock.
