Obituary: Gladys Ione McCracken Allen

A memorial service for Gladys Ione McCracken Allen, 82, of Minden, will be Tuesday at 2 p.m. at the Genoa Community Church.

Mrs. Allen died Aug. 3, 2001. She was born in Pueblo, Colo. to Guy McCracken and Rhoda Rosel on Dec. 21, 1918.

She and her husband, Lloyd Allen, moved to Genoa in 1966 from Los Angeles. She moved to Minden in 1994.

Mrs. Allen worked for the C.O.D. Garage in Minden and later worked for Douglas County.

She was a volunteer on the Genoa election board and was active in the annual Genoa Candy Dance. She served as secretary and bookkeeper for the Genoa Town Board.

Mrs. Allen was the secretary and treasurer and ordained deaconess of Mountain View Christian Church in Genoa.

She enjoyed reading, crossword puzzles, classical and jazz music and dancing. She was interested in world and biblical history.

Mrs. Allen was a Masonic widow from Douglas Lodge No. 12, Free and Accepted Masons and a member of many book clubs.

She was preceded in death by her mother, father, husband, brother and two sisters.

She is survived by her sisters, Mary Lou Slack of Minden, and P. Arline Rupp of Newton, Conn., and by numerous nieces and nephews.
