STATELINE - Former Miami Dolphins all-pro defensive back Dick Anderson shot a 3-under-par 69 to take a one-stroke lead Saturday after two rounds in the 11th annual American Century Celebrity Golf Championship.

Anderson, the 1994 champion, parlayed a 3-under 33 on the front nine to emerge from a group of eight players separated by just four shots. Rick Rhoden, the defending champion and five-time winner, shot even par 72 for a total of one-under 143. First-round leader Jack Wagner shot 4-over-par 76.

Michael Jordan had a second consecutive 81 for a 162 total. John Elway followed an opening round 75 with 76 for 151; Jerry Rice shot 79, two strokes better than round one; and Oscar De La Hoya's 93 was 11 strokes more than his opening round 82.

In the 1994 event, Anderson prevailed over Rhoden and Steve Bartkowski, in a three-way playoff - one of two in the event's history.
