GALENA 50, SOUTH TAHOE 39
The Galena boys basketball team won for the first time in nine years at South Tahoe.
"That was a moral victory," Galena Coach Tom Maurer said. "It wasn't an easy win. South Tahoe played very hard."
Mike Holmes scored 12 points and Travis Williams added 10 points for the Grizzlies (6-2).
JUNIOR VARSITY
CARSON 48, REED 46
Reed shot 53 percent and outshot Carson, but the Senators had only 14 turnovers to 22 for the Raiders in pulling out the win in the junior varsity boys basketball game.
Carson was also able to hold on despite missing five of its last six free throws.
Ed Jaquette scored 13 points, Andy Bohm had 12 points and Andy Heldebrand added eight points for Carson. Ricky Correlli also had an all-around solid game for the Senators with eight points, six rebounds and six steals.
FRESHMAN
CARSON 59, REED 55
The Carson freshman boys basketball team improved to 6-0 with the win. Aaron Henry scored 15 points and Rory Wunsch added 14 points for Carson.
Jared Wulff and Jason Alcasas played well defensively for the Senators. Jeff Hurzel and John Stewart's clutch foul shooting down the stretch helped secure the win as well for Carson.
