Runners and walkers will be given a chance to test their fitness Saturday morning when the Carson City Striders host Cross Country Cup 2000 at Silver Oak Golf Course.
The event - a 5- and 10-kilometer cross country run and two-mile walk - is set for an 8 a.m. start from Silver Oak's 18th fairway.
The 5- and 10-K runs will be held on a course that consists of 98 percent trail and grass and includes a climb from the golf course to the historic V&T Railroad trail.
Race day registration fee is $22. Proceeds from the event go to benefit the Carson City Striders cross country program for youngsters 8 to 18 years of age.
