Kenneth F. Santor Jr., 42, has been sentenced to 12 months in jail by a Washoe District Court judge.
Santor Jr., of Reno, pleaded guilty to the gross misdemeanor charge of conspiracy to commit insurance fraud.
He reported a burglary in January 1998, telling his insurance company a stereo and recording equipment was taken from his residence. But investigators say they determined the documentation Santor submitted in the case was false.
False statements on an insurance claim can be treated as a felony in Nevada. Conspiracy is a gross misdemeanor punishable by up to 12 months - the penalty was handed down by Judge Brent Adams.
