Eagle Valley wins eighth-grade wrestling title

Eagle Valley Middle School wrestled to first place in the eighth-grade division at the Tah-Neva Zone Tournament on Saturday.


The victory gave the Eagles their seventh-straight championship in the eighth-grade division. Eagle Valley scored 143 points to beat out Winemucca.


Chris Ceccarelli (140 pounds) and Tony Mele (HWT) scored first-place victories. Coming in second were Jason Hayes (95), Tim Ellis (110), Kent Panovec (125), Mike Dittenber (150), Jared Wulff (160) and Mark Robinson (175).


The seventh-graders took third as a team with 128 points, finishing behind Winemucca (132) and Yerington (138).


Loren Wooldridge (110) and Micah Whitcome (125) took first place in their divisions, and Whitcome was named the seventh-grade division's most outstanding wrestler.


This concludes the wrestling season for Eagle Valley.
