Fishing derby at Davis Lake, Calif.

The City of Portola will hold a Lake Davis Fishing Derby on Saturday and Sunday. That derby is being co-sponsored with the Eastern Plumas Chamber of Commerce.


Tagged trout will be released into Davis Lake. One of the trout will be worth $20,000. There is also one $5,000 trout and 50 others worth $100.


There is a $5 registration fee, which covers both days of the event.


Pre-derby registration is available at Country Cafe and Pizzeria, Dollards, Sierra Market, Gold Rush Sporting Goods Store, Grizzly Store, the Portola City Ha,, and Southside Grocery Store, all in Portola.


During the derby, six derby outpost will be located around the lake.


Entrants must be registered by 9 a.m. and they can register at any of the outposts during 6-9 a.m.
